Marysville Monarchs Varsity defeated Westland 15-0 on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Abby Gindlesberger struck out #19 to finish off the game.
Marysville Monarchs Varsity got things started in the first inning. Hannah Moffett drove in one when she singled.
Marysville Monarchs Varsity scored seven runs in the second inning. Marysville Monarchs Varsity’s big inning was driven by singles by Leah Potter and Ashley Dunn, an error on a ball put in play by Isabelle Shroyer and Taylor Clabaugh, a groundout by Emily Daniel, and a double by Alexa Williams.
One bright spot for Westland was a single by #11 in the second inning.
Shroyer led the Marysville Monarchs Varsity to victory in the pitcher’s circle. She lasted three innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out four. Gindlesberger threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
#19 took the loss for Westland. She went four innings, allowing 15 runs on 14 hits, striking out one and walking zero.
Marysville Monarchs Varsity tallied 14 hits in the game. Sydney Wade, Williams, Moffett, and Dunn all managed multiple hits for Marysville Monarchs Varsity. Dunn, Moffett, Williams, and Wade each collected two hits to lead Marysville Monarchs Varsity. Marysville Monarchs Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Aggie Livingston had the most chances in the field with seven.
