Marysville Monarchs Varsity took the lead late and defeated Central Crossing 7-5 on Friday. The game was tied at five with Marysville Monarchs Varsity batting in the bottom of the fifth when Matt Belt doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Marysville Monarchs Varsity built a five-run lead in the third inning and then held off Central Crossing’s charge. Central Crossing scored five runs in the failed comeback on a fielder’s choice by Reed, a single by Woods, a single by Carr, and a single by Ronevich.
Marysville Monarchs Varsity opened up scoring in the first inning. Marysville Monarchs Varsity scored one run when Blake Storr doubled.
Trey Storr earned the victory on the hill for Marysville Monarchs Varsity. He surrendered five runs on eight hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four.
