Multiple Teams · Swim Team faced tough schedule – 3 Meets in 5 days!

The Marysville Monarchs swim team had 3 meets in 5 days.  It was a whirlwind but ultimately the Girls team came out on top winning all 3 meets!  The Boys team had a great showing and dominated in 2 meets and narrowly missed out on winning the 3rd.
On Friday, Jan 15th we competed in our first in-person meet against Dublin Scioto at the Dublin Rec Center. So many incredible swims by our team fueled by finally getting to face an opponent swimming in the lane next to them.  Girls won quite easily with a score of 104-48 while the boys had a closer match scoring 80-69.  1st place finishes for this meet include:

On Sunday, Jan 17th we competed in a mini Invitational. This meet was held at the Champaign County YMCA and included Jonathon Alder, Mechanicsburg, West Liberty, Graham, London,  and Hamilton Twp. This meet was a great time and Marysville won 15 out of the 21 events!  Really great swims came out of this meet and I think, again, it was because an in-person meet really charges you and strikes that competition up. Joey Hazelbaker had a great 200 Free finally breaking that 2 minute barrier with a 1:59.57. Freshman Katheryn Mager won her first event this year in the 100 Fly with a 1:17.44. Sophomore Cannon Moser has been working incredibly hard this year and won his first event at this meet as well, taking the win in 100 Free with a 59.74. Moser also dropped over 10 seconds in his 200 Free. Dropping 3 seconds, Freshman Mallory Seman battled it out in the 100 Breast against friend and former club teammate Maggie Matessa from JA. Seman finished 2nd just behind Matessa with 1:24.88 vs 1:24.33. Dropping over 8 seconds in her 500 Free, Junior Riley Sherick is finally starting to see the results from hard practices. Marysville’s own Danny Dougherty and Max Miller-Brown competed against each other in the 500 Free both earning best times of 6:30.06 and 6:33.65 respectively.
Thomas Worthington High School hosted the Marysville Monarchs on Tuesday, Jan. 19th for our third meet in 5 days. We knew going into this meet it was going to be a challenge but these athletes were up for it. Marysville Girls won 83 to TWHS 68 while the boys missed out, scoring 57 to Thomas Worthington’s 95.
